Austen K. deBlois Library

The Austen K. deBlois Resource Library is located in Section E of the seminary. The Library maintains reading areas, patron computers for research use, audio-visual materials, recent issues of journals, reserve materials, and a select collection of frequently used reference books. Library staff will be on hand to retrieve circulating books, journals, and other reference items from the adjacent Storage Library.

To make the most of your Library visit, please plan ahead. Request books and other materials ahead of time by email (semlibr@eastern.edu) or phone  (484-384-2945).  Library staff will retrieve the materials and have them ready for you when you arrive.

Important Note: Access to the building after regular office hours is limited to Seminary personnel (current students, faculty, and staff). All others (alumni, Eastern University students/faculty/staff/, SEPTLA borrowers, Friends of the Library, and members of the general public) may visit the Library between 8:30am and 4:00pm Monday-Friday.

MISSION

The Austen K. deBlois Library is part of Eastern University Libraries. The mission of Eastern University Libraries is to provide information access and research instruction to all of Eastern University’s communities, making a difference in the world, church, and individuals through Christian higher education.

Warner Memorial Library serves all academic constituencies with the provision of organized collections of books and media, online resources, reference, and research instruction.

The Austen K. deBlois Library of Palmer Theological Seminary serves Eastern University by providing theological resources and services to the seminary, graduate, undergraduate, and alumni communities of Eastern University.

Eastern University Libraries adhere to the Characteristics of Excellence applicable to libraries from the Middle States Association on Higher Education; and the standards of the Association of Colleges and Research Libraries. The Austen K. deBlois Library also conforms to standards of the Association of Theological Schools. We assess our service through regular surveys of faculty and students.
