Karen Milanya

Treasurer

As someone deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community, I am thrilled to serve as the Student Assembly Treasurer at Palmer Seminary. I believe that justice, compassion, and a spirit of fellowship are core values that will guide my approach to representing and serving the Palmer community.

With a background in Public Administration and Organizational Development and extensive experience overseeing operations and providing research consultancy, I have developed strong leadership and operational skills. These skills have been honed through roles such as Operations Coordinator at Peace Health Care Services and Graduate Consultant with the Overseas Development Institute.

Beyond my professional roles, I am passionate about ministry, mentoring young people, and volunteering with various organizations. My work with Agape International Baptist Church in Philadelphia underscores my dedication to integrating compassion and evangelism within church communities. Through these experiences, I have witnessed firsthand how acts of justice and compassion can profoundly transform lives.

A significant reason for my desire to join the Student Assembly is my commitment to nurturing a spirit of koinonia (fellowship) that enriches our seminary experience and serves as a model for future leaders in Christian ministry. This past year, I have been particularly inspired by the prayer Jesus made in John 17:21: "I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me." My deepest desire is that as we each draw closer to the Father, He will draw us into a place of oneness of Spirit with each other.

I am excited to contribute to the Student Assembly's mission of representing student interests, facilitating communication and interaction within the seminary community, and nurturing a spirit of fellowship. I look forward to serving and engaging with the Palmer and Eastern University communities.
