Palmer on Mission: Discerning God’s Call through Clarity and Community

On Thursday, October 30, Palmer Theological Seminary’s CARES/Flourishing Leader Project partnered with the MinstrElife team of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) to host Call to Clarity, a vibrant evening of vocational exploration, spiritual reflection, and community engagement. Held at the ABHMS headquarters in King of Prussia, the event drew a strong turnout of students, pastors, and ministry leaders eager to discern how their unique gifts and experiences align with God’s call.

The evening guided participants through the process of developing a ministry profile, identifying their passions, and crafting a compelling ministry narrative—a vital step in articulating one’s sense of call in today’s evolving ministry landscape. Attendees were also introduced to digital tools designed to support their ongoing vocational exploration, helping them map opportunities, track growth, and stay connected with ministry networks.

Beyond the teaching and reflection, the gathering offered a rich time of fellowship over a shared meal, where stories, laughter, and encouragement filled the room. Many left inspired and equipped with new insights into the diverse and varied forms of ministry beyond the pulpit—spanning chaplaincy, nonprofit leadership, advocacy, education, and other creative expressions of faith in action.

The Call to Clarity event was a resounding success, marked by meaningful engagement, renewed purpose, and deep gratitude for the partnership between Palmer Seminary and ABHMS. Together, these organizations continue to empower leaders to serve with clarity, compassion, and courage, living out the Seminary’s mission to prepare students for ministries that transform both church and community.
